Pitfall: The Lost Expedition

Take control of Pitfall Harry in this humorous reimagination of the series.

For a series that stared life as a blocky mess on the original Atari 2600, Pitfall has come a long way. The newest incarnation, set for release this spring, promises a number of lush environments for players to explore, puzzles to solve and a brand new "direct control" control scheme.

Spread out over 40 different levels the game sports a large number of enemies both old and new. Classic favorites such as scorpions, bats and piranhas will all be making an appearance.

The new "direct control" setup allows players to take control of Harry via the two analog sticks. Instead of pressing a button to execute an action you will move the sticks and control his limbs directly. Although it is a departure from the traditional way of doing things, the two stick approach is intriguing.

When you first start the game Harry has a very basic skill set, but this will change as time goes on. Players will be able to learn new abilities, such as the quick dash, in order to pass obstacles in the game.

A new pitfall game has been a long time coming, but this feature packed extravaganza has the potential to satiate any jungle desire players might have. We'll have more info as soon as Activision lets us take another trek through the jungle.
