Now?s your chance to have a lead role in a popular film. Are you game?
Running ManJames Earl Cash thought his life was at an end. As a death row inmate, he was to be put to death by lethal injection; his torment would be gone. Unfortunately, in a little twist of fate, James was saved. Saved, though, by a mysterious man known only as The Director, who, among other fetishes, enjoys watching snuff films. Now The Director wants to make his own degenerate film with James as the star.
Borrowing disturbing aspects from movies like 8mm, Jacob?s Ladder, and The Running Man, Rockstar?s next mature-themed game promises to extract more than just a late-night yelp from you. In the game, you play as James, an unwitting victim of someone else?s perverted fantasy. Apparently, The Director has hired ruthless gangs to hunt you down in a deserted city. It?s you against everyone else, and your only help comes from the man who saved you. The Director suggests ways to kill off your hunters?always in a gruesome fashion?while he films every step you take. The better the kill, the better the rating you get.
A-Hunting We Will Go
An early build of Manhunt already displayed the unpalatable premise with depraved results. The game is based primarily on stealth, using shadowy corners (safe zones) to hide and stake out your next victim. As an enemy walks past you, you must sneak up behind him and, when in range, perform a hideous and bloody attack for the camera using objects like glass shards, machetes, and bats. With multiple ways of decapitating victims using more than 20 weapons, you can expect the camera lens to be fully stained with blood by the end of your ordeal.
The Right Snuff
Manhunt will be Mature-rated for one specific reason: extreme violent content. But despite the gore, the unique gameplay will certainly raise eyebrows, too. The hunt starts in November.
