Rather than just crank the difficulty up even higher, Mega Man X7 adds another dimension.
Wait a second, Mega Man X7 is 3D? Didnt Mega Man 64 already try thiswith disastrous results? This time around, fear not.Mega Man X7 is the first PS2 installment of the X series, and while its sporting new 3D environments and cel-shaded graphics, the game hasnt lost its 2D roots. The majority of the gameplay takes place in a 2D side-scrolling format, occasionally switching to a zoomed-out or third-person view. The preview build featured an intuitive lock-on system and the ability to instantly switch between Mega Man, Zero, and Axla new handgun-wielding character capable of mimicking enemy robots. The switch to 3D is always a scary one, but it may prove to be the needed change for this aging series.
