Koei is again tapping into the Romance of the Three Kingdoms in its upcoming Dynasty Tactics 2.
Getting more mileage from the Romance of the Three Kingdom stories than humanly possible, Koei is once again tapping into the ancient tomes in its upcoming battle simulator, Dynasty Tactics 2, which continues to document the quasi-mystical exploits of legendary heroes and armies from the annals of Chinese history. The mechanics in the previewable build of Dynasty Tactics 2 were deep and very engaging. Under certain conditions, Tactics could be performed only once per unit but randomly restored when enemies were defeated, while more could be stolen from enemies when attacking from behind. Combining armies enabled multiple-unit combo attacks, and up to six of such attacks could be strung together into devastating offensives. Money earned on the battlefield could be used between skirmishes to build armies and also to finance training in battle, intelligence, and leader-type Tactics, and you could also send scouts to spy on rival armies and recruit assassins to infiltrate enemy bases and take out key opponents. Though Koei may be skimping out on producing jaw-dropping visuals, the breadth and scope of the battle system should suck you in and make you forget about such trivial surface details.
