Get your loincloths ready for Acclaim's ultra-violent, arena-based hack-n-slasher

Gladiator is Acclaim's attempt to re-create the pure aggression and brutality of Roman combat and, by Crom, the previewable version of this sucker is loaded with gore. While 70 percent of the game consists of chopping up rival herculoids until they fall to the ground as arterial-spraying messes, the other 30 percent will have you fetching keys, destroying jugs, and pulling levers. Pressing appropriate buttons when prompted opens up execution cut-scenes featuring gratuitous limb-chopping, decapitations, and intestine-spilling disembowelments. Fast-paced, ber violent, and featuring a chest-thumping orchestral score, this should appeal to fans of films like Gladiator, Conan, and Jason and the Argonauts (dig the fight against the Spartan skeleton warriors)as long as Acclaim does something about the frustrating lack of camera control.
