People of Earth! Bear witness to the spiritual successor to the X-Com series!
Following in X-Coms footsteps, but without the name, UFO: Aftermath pits players against invading aliens on a post-apocalyptic Earth. X-Com: UFO Defense has been hailed as one of the greatest PC games of all time, however subsequent sequels were inconsistent as they continued exploring the Human/Sectoid conflict. Can UFO:Aftermath impress the audience that fixated so strongly on the original X-Com, or is it merely re-treading so much tired ground?UFO: Aftermath combines squad-based tactical strategy with global resource management. The Simultaneous Combat System is a blend of real-time and turn-based action that takes place in randomly generated environments. Destructible scenery and region-appropriate graphics will add realism to the missions. In the resource management component of the game, players will research new technologies, weapons, and psionic powers to fight the alien antagonists. RPG elements include paper doll style character administration and increased abilities after successful missions. UFO: Aftermath looks like it should be an engrossing game that fuses the best of both resource management and squad-based action. Better start clearing your calendar now; UFO: Aftermath lands in September.
