Check out some new exclusive screens of Jaleco's console-oriented, goblin-intensive RTS.

As Jaleco's console-only RTS Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde is nearing completion, the dev team sent us some new screens showing off some new areas, units, cut-scenes, as well as the new darker look of the characters. If you recall from the original screen shots, the first GC designs were much more cartoonish and much less menacingthe games engine allowed the game designers and programmers to work on levels, gameplay, and polish with the old placeholder character graphics while the 24-member art team concurrently worked on the final character designs; the swap-in process when the new art came in barely caused a hiccup. The results are what you see here in these exclusive screens.

"We kept what we had but improved it with time and talent," said Jeff Litchford, Lead Artist on Goblin Commander. Once we shifted enough resources to the game, we refined, textured, added effects and did a polish pass."

Jaleco plans on unleashing their ambitious little RTS horde upon the planet in mid-November of this year for all three consoles (PS2, GameCube, Xbox). Originally, the Xbox version was scheduled for a 2004 release after the other two systems, but the game was pushed forward to release coincidentally with all the others.
