Mario Party 5

More Mario mini-game mayhem!

Mario and his pals are bent on saving the dreamworld by once again competing for stars in a cutthroat, no holds barred festival of madness. For those of you that have never played a Mario Party game before, here?s a little recap of the drama so far: Mario Party is probably the most successful party game ever developed, and it?s no secret why. Sporting cutesy graphics and even more darling sound, Mario Party deceives onlookers into believing that the players aren?t hurling curses (or anything else they can get their hands on) at one another while battling for domination of the game board while, in reality, those that go toe-to-toe against each other in this game soon find out that talking smack is second nature in a pressure cooker like Mario Party.

This latest installment pits Mario against all your old favorites (and some new ones too) on all new game boards and in over sixty new mini-games. There will also be a new take on the mini-games in that players will not always compete against one another singly or in teams, sometimes all four players will have to join forces against the quintessentially evil Bowser. In addition, the new game boards (which were never really as static as there non-virtual counter parts) will feature event spaces that change during play, causing a larger variety of happenings and an even deeper level of strategy.

Single players have no need to fear that they will be left with a game that?s only fun when they can convince their non-gamer friends (aka philistines) that a quick round of Mario Party might be a blast, since MP5 has an expanded single-player mode specifically designed to hone the razor-sharp mini-game skills required for supremacy. Nintendo has even added the Koopa Kid Brigade, a band of young Koopas who take their turns all at once to cut down on wait time and increase the amount of trouncing time. Mario Party 5 looks like it will once again be the cause of many social gatherings turned horrific, take no prisoners, battlegrounds strewn with the battered figures of your favorite Nintendo characters.
