Tak isn?t cut from the same cloth as those other platform mascots?he?s goofy, clumsy, and totally unextreme. Plus, he likes to wear a chicken suit!
It seems that every 3D platformer coming out in the next year is trying to separate itself from rest of the crowd, and THQ?s Tak & The Power of Juju (also coming for PS2) is no exception. The star of the show has absolutely no attitude, nor one iota of badass eXtremeness?he?s actually kind of a clumsy doof who likes to wear chicken suits with big googly eyes. He's also part of a weird sort of reverse Nickelodeon deal which introduces a character in a video game before releasing his cartoon series and movie. The most important thing to know about Tak is that the game, like Whiplash and a few others of note, is trying to do things differently than other platformers that have come before. Most notably, switches and catapults and other obvious platform gaming clich?s are replaced by animals?watching their behavior and learning how to manipulate them plays an integral part in the puzzle-solving. There definitely seems to be a 3D platform renaissance in the air; this little fella may play a key role in the movement.
