Tales of Symphonia

It's coming! Namco's first 3D Tales game is the best thing GameCube RPG fans have going right now.

Oh, how we've waited for this time. We've covered Namco's Tales of Symphonia, a GameCube-only entry in their long-running RPG series, for much of the past few months. We've realized sadly that Namco's only released a handful of the Tales games in America, and waited hopefully for some kind of announcement. Well, the day has come?while Namco stopped short at mentioning a release date, they confirmed that the first truly 3D Tales game ever will get a U.S. release.

As we discussed earlier, Tales of Symphonia will cover the adventures of Lloyd Irving, a young kid raised by dwarves and sent on a quest to restore peace, glory, and so forth to the land of Silvalant. Kosuke Fujishima (series graphic designer, and also the guy who writes the Ah! My Goddess manga) will be handling character designs once more, and the pseudo-action RPG battle system will get the full 3D treatment, which could nudge it a bit closer toward the direction of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.

Coming to the Nintendo GameCube at a date yet to be determined.
