World Championship Pool 2004

The magic eight ball predicts this may be the only billiards simulation you?ll ever need.

If you?re one of those rare fans of video game billiards (and you must be, if you clicked on this article), then know this: Jaleco?s World Championship Pool could be the be-all and end-all pool simulation. Touted as the ?Tiger Woods? of billiards, WCP strives for true-to-life accuracy above all else, with crazily photorealistic graphics (each ball properly reflects the environment around it), physics that have been refined for seven years (this is just the latest in a very-long-running snooker series popular in the U.K.), and a neural network-based A.I. that?s been polishing its game for two hours every day for the last two years. The game features real professional ?as seen on ESPN? billiards players, and you can create your own character using a startlingly Sims-like dress-up interface. Also in the works: a complete ?pool instructor? tutorial mode that will help players perfect their real-life game in addition to the one on-screen. Look for World Championship Pool 2004 on PS2, Xbox, and PC in December 2003 and GameCube in March 2004.
