The PC first person shooter loads up on features and prepares to infiltrate the Xbox.
Xbox owners have waited patiently for updated word on their version of Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix since its initial announcement last September. The PC first person shooter follows the adventures of John Mullins, a military consultant to The Shop, a highly secretive anti-terrorist group.New information has finally surfaced, including details about the touted Xbox Live support. The current plan is to have five-on-five team games playable on Microsofts servers or through a standard system link. However, there is no option to play split-screen multiplayer on one console, so each individual will have to have their own Xbox. The plus side? Everyone will have a nice full screen to view the action.
Live support isnt the only tweak for this version. The HUD has been altered to be easily readable on TVs, and a handy auto aim has been implemented. Controls follow the same scheme as Halo and the severe gun recoil in the PC version has been toned downwhile its easy to recover control with a mouse, its not so easy with the Xbox controllers analog stick. The biggest bonus is the inclusion of every item and feature found in the Gold patch to SOF II.
With 50 playable missions, Xbox Live support, and a random mission generator (for both single and multi-player games), Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix should prove to be a tour of duty worth signing up for.
