Acclaim?s first foray into 3D platformers is being touted as a Mario 64 or Banjo-Kazooie for more grown-up minds.
Acclaim?s rough and ready platform mascot Vexx wants to ?age up? the hop-n-bop genre. What will give him an edge? For one, he won?t collect coins or rings or gems?he?ll collect beating hearts. Eewww! Then there are the magical, razor-sharp gauntlets, the hordes of demons, and Vexx?s ability to change between night and day at will with the fantasy world?s occupants and pathways changing along with it. The early versions still needed a little tweaking (small slowdown and voice-over issues), but Vexx was easy to control on all three platforms, plus the worlds were huge. Gamers who are looking for a little less sugary sweetness in their platform adventures might find Vexx?s attitude quite palatable this February.
