Unleash your inner Stand, insane Italian action herocould you do no less?!?! Radio wheat forever worm comma PlayStation 2 device!
Heroes who shoot ladybugs and attack enemies by making trees grow through themgiant zippers that rend holes in space-timegirls that project tiny combat aero-planes out of their heartsenemies that can be beaten through clever use of everyday objects you find in your house (yes, your real house)come on, how could you not want to play this game?Everyones favorite androgynous Italian from the 1920s is making his(?) fantastically abnormal PS2 debut in Gio Gios Bizarre Adventure, an aptly titled action/fighting game based on a small portion of one of Japans weirdest, longest-running manga series. The game will essentially be a string of mini-boss battles connected by insane cut-scenes as you take control of a character and its associated Stand (thats a weird phantasm-soul that pops out of your body to do combat, duh) to try to noodle out how to best a foe with unsettling, confusing powers.
Gio Gio earns major style points with its unique manga-shaded look, though PS2 aliasing may make things look painfully sharp on certain televisions. Even the combat controls in the Japanese version were weird (how many games have an eject soul button?) but tight in the Capcom tradition, and the lack of any camera control made it easy to lose track of your preythough the big Buddha with the banana-gun went a long way to make up for any shortfallings.
Note: This preview is based on the boxed Japanese version of the game.
