Old hedgehogs never die; they just get emulated. Sonic the Hedgehog will see the 16-bit games that made him a household name re-released on the GameCube as the Sonic Mega Collection, and purists should not worry?the crew in charge of the project is Sonic Team itself. Sonic?s first four adventures (Sonic 1, 2, 3, and Sonic & Knuckles) will be joined by the oft-maligned Sonic Spinball, the ill-fated Sonic 3D Blast, and the puzzler Dr. Robotnik?s Mean Bean Machine. The disc will even support the old Lock-On trick that lets Knuckles play around in Sonic?s first three games.The games already looked and played great in the early version; they?re true classics, perfectly preserved. There will be plenty of unlockable goodies and secrets to discover on the disc but the big question is: Will Sonic CD and its awesome rendered cinema be included or not? Some materials, such as the manual, were already on the preview disc, but there?s talk that the complete game might not make the final release. Sonic completists hope it will!
