NHL FaceOff 2003

In recent years, NHL FaceOffs caliber of play has been on par with the rawest of expansion teams, but the 2003 season might see it actually contend for a playoff berth.
Aside from its glory days as a stellar rookie on the PlayStation, the FaceOff series has struggled. Judging from an unfinished preview version, however, NHL FaceOff 2003 might deliver its best season in years. The pinball-like feel to the controls (which has long plagued the series) had improved noticeably, and an intriguing Franchise mode will enable you to play GM, building your team by drafting players and scrabbling for free agents. If 989 can brush up the graphics before the game ships, FaceOff might be worthy of a playoff spot, though reigning heavyweights NHL 2003 and NHL 2K3 will likely remain the top squads.
