Are you up for a challenge, Yank? Then you can take the role of a scrotty grafter in Sonys telling story of English crime.

Sony is hoping to be a part of the success of the gritty criminal worldthemed games that have been recently popular among mature gamers with The Getaway. Though it may sound like a Grand Theft Auto III rip-offa third-person, car jacking, roam-anywhere adventure in the city streetsThe Getaway promises to have much more. The games visual highlight will be its location: Every building and street will be an accurate reproduction of London, including the signs, streetlights, and even the cracks in the roads. But aside from the graphics, the gameplay should be just as engaging. Youll perform criminal deeds for the Mob, like torching a restaurant, chauffeuring a gang boss, and gun battling with the local authorities. The preview version already felt like you were involved with the slums of the underworld, but the frame rate still needed tweaking. If thats fixed, you can expect a smooth ride within the rough streets of The Getaway.
