Will the mass market ever get bored with the cornucopia of SNES classics that are being ported to the GBA? Konami doesn?t seem to think so as it serves up two new versions of Contra for the GBA and PS2. While the PS2 version will be an all-new game showcasing a lush 3D world with classic 2D gameplay, the GBA title will be a straight port of Contra III: The Alien Wars?with a few changes. In the preview version, you could hold only one weapon at a time, which omitted the ability to dual-fire that you had in the original. Second, Konami has added two new side-scrolling levels to Contra Advance but has also removed the two top-down levels from the original, keeping the number of levels at a meager six. Although the new levels are worthwhile, many Contra players may miss the change of pace. Don?t worry, though?change is often a scary thing, but the preview version played as clean as the original. Even the most fanatical fans must admit: Contra Advance: The Alien Wars EX will still be good ol? Contra.
