Defender has the name. Will it have the game?
Defender is finally getting a major makeover. The outer-space shooter that helped make arcade side-view gaming will take the evolutionary leap from 2D to 3D. The preview version looked gorgeous with volatile volcanic landscapes on the moons of Jupiter, nasty-looking bug-like aliens (yup, the Mantis), and nicely detailed spacecraft (including the Defender, of course). Excellent CG-animated cut-scenes told the scary story of extraterrestrial claim jumping. Even in early form, the controls felt tight, sure, and familiar�and they fired up fierce fighting with fancy flying. This ain�t your daddy�s Defender anymore!
