BMX XXX sheds Dave Mirra, but still keeps all the controversy that can be packed into a M-rated title. First hand impressions inside.
Theres been a lot of talk and controversy in recent days about whats in and not in Dave Mirra BMX XXX. The first thing thats not in is Dave Mirra and the rest of the pro riders; the title's been shortened down to BMX XXX. Fret not, "real" BMX fans; as Mr. Mirra will still have a separate game concentrating on a simulation-based experience while the latter will remain the controversial M-rated experience Acclaim has been promising. During their recent tour to the GamePro office, the company showed us whats currently in the game, cautioning us that everything may not make it in depending on what they judge is suitable.BMX XXX expands the usual level goals by having them revolve around humorous, violent and naughty situations. The game will retain the popular ProQuest mode, along with the "no-timer" feature of Aggressive Inline so you can complete objectives at your leisure. A new multi-player mode, 2000 plus bike tricks, in-game cut scenes and the much-talked about rider editor feature round out the rest of the highlights.
Of course, most folks will want to know about all the naughty bits. And, yes, there are plenty of rude and crude jokes that are sure to offend just about everybody. If you choose to, you can even create a female rider without her top on (yes its currently in the game). Who knows if this stuff will make it in the game when it hits stores, but the game itself has the solid game mechanics evolved from previous Mirra and Inline titles, assuring that this will be a playable game no matter what. The Mirra-less XXX will ride into stores this November.
