The Sifu gets some hands-on time with Sucker Punch's upcoming Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus.
Sucker Punch, developer of the brilliant yet underrated Rocket: Robot on Wheels for the N64, is no stranger to the 3D platform genre. Its newest game, Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, looks like it will more than measure up by boasting idiosyncratic visuals, fluid animation, and a refreshing mix of gameplay styles. As the titular raccoon, you'll use your wits and thievery skills to locate the scattered pieces of your family's heirloom, the Thievius Raccoonus. You can expect tight, easy-to-pick-up controls that immediately immerse you in the game's dizzying environments, where everything is bent and contorted into bizarrely beautiful shapes. Platform hopping and coin collecting are being combined with stealth aspects, and in the preview build, Sly himself showcased a broad repertoire of abilities that enabled him to climb, swing, sneak, and creep almost anywhere. Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus looks like it will be worth the coin when it ships this fall.
