Nintendo?s Metroid legacy continues with Metroid Fusion?the game that will enslave you to your GBA.
Metroid Fusion looks like Nintendo?s answer to those gamers who feel betrayed by the first-person Metroid coming to the GameCube; this new adventure looks to placate the two-dimensional purists. This entirely new Metroid title will play just like Super Metroid, with a few additions. Your character has some new tricks, including the ability to hang off ledges and climb, monkey-bar-style, across certain ceilings. The character also absorbs power-ups left by defeated enemies into her/his suit. Visually, the game is superb. New lighting effects combined with highly detailed foreground and background textures made this a mouthwatering experience at E3.
Why all the vagueness? The story begins as Samus, accompanied by her exploration team, headed to Planet SR388 when her ship is attacked by a new unknown life form. This new parasitic creature (called the ?X?) attacks her and attaches to her body. Mild Spoiler Warning: The E3 demo played with a new character wearing a blue-green and yellow suit with Samus? classic helmet. At the end of the demo, this new character meets Samus face to face?just as the curtains close. Who is this new character? Part of Samus? exploration party perhaps? And who is the real main character of Metroid Fusion, the funky fusion suit person, or Samus and the trusted curves and colors of her armor? Will there be a link in story or gameplay between Metroid Prime and Fusion? Will these questions haunt us until the release in November?
Yes.
