Super Mario Sunshine

Mario is coming to Japan July 17?and we've got thirty more screenshots of the game, complete with Yoshis, princesses, water jets, and giant caterpillars.

With the July 17 release date only a week away, all of Japan is counting down the minutes and seconds until the release of Super Mario Sunshine. And they've got good reason to?as our last update showed, the game will likely surpass the wildest expectations of diehard Nintendo nutters everywhere.

Nintendo provided another bushel basket of screens today, showing off some of the tricks Mario can do with his new water pump. As he progresses through the game's 13 worlds, Mario will get to pick up new nozzles for his odd contraption, which let him attack enemies, hover above the ground, or even shoot into the stratosphere like the bottle rockets you built in summer camp. Not only is Yoshi back (in multiple colors, too), but Mario has a whole new set of acrobatic moves that will make navigating the game's tropical island an exhilarating experience. The U.S. version comes out August 26, but keep on the lookout for a hands-on preview of the Japanese game within the next few weeks.
