The Doom III demo had ?em jumping out of their seats at the Electronic Entertainment Expo last May. Although details at this time are scant at best, it?s clear that Doom III will stick to the original story. In the year 2145, the Union Aerospace Corporation is conducting some sort of teleportation experiments on Mars. In the demo build, a weird-looking scientist crept furtively around the facility. He tossed a switch and?well, you know the rest. Wraith-like skeleton heads flew out of a teleporter and straight into the bodies of all the Marines on guard, turning them into fatigue-clad demons.You?ll become the lone survivor in a first-person perspective world of trouble. A pistol, a shotgun, and a machine gun supplied the firepower in the preview version, and the targets revealed were several types of creatures, but it?s not definite what will show up in the final game. Bloated zombies lumbered down the halls, but demon dogs and a weird four-legged Alien-type thingie charged down the corridors with terrifying speed. With Doom III, all hell?s breaking loose?again!
