Reign of Fire

The age-old argument of whos strongerdragons or tankswill finally be settled this October.

Dragons on one side. Tanks, jeeps, big friggin guns, and a bald, hyper-aggro Matthew McConaughey on the other. Reign of Fire is one of those movie concepts thats so ridiculously cool you cant really believe no one thought of it before now. Luckily, its a concept that lends itself pretty naturally to a video game translationenter BAM! Entertainment to take it from there.

The gameplay is pretty much what youd expect from Reigns plotas the gaggle of humanity fighting for survival, youll drive a number of different (and increasingly more potent) military vehicles, trying to take out baby runner dragons and big winged freaks with an arsenal of missiles and other high-powered de-scaling devices. Once you complete the human missions, youll also be able to take flight and play the same missions from the dragons perspective on a holy crusade to wipe out the plague of annoying little people once and for all with great balls of fire.

The latest build of the game was looking really sharpespecially the Xbox versionwith nice fire effects and cool visual touches (including some subtle translucence in the dragons wings that really stuck out in one particular Dingos mind); and you have to admit, the ability to play things from the Dragon perspective has an undeniable appeal. Look for the movie in a few weeks (July 21st), with both versions of the game coming out somewhere round October.
