Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny

Who knew being a funky bad Japanese warrior could be so easy? Juubei Yagyuu kicks it down in the sequel to Capcom's hit survival action game.

Poor Juubei Yagyuu. His village has been destroyed by Oda Nobunaga's army, he's just been given mystical powers from some weird demoness in a flowing robe, and now all of a sudden he's involved in a quest to single-handedly cut down Nobunaga and save ancient Japan from the weird creatures that constantly threaten it. Lucky, then, that he's got automatic sword targeting on his side.

Onimusha 2, due out this fall in the U.S., will use roughly the same battle and navigation system as the original. As before, there's a set of friendly characters (four in this game) that will automatically help you out here and there. This time, though, they'll support you more if you give them certain items they're looking for. Gone are the days of worrying about wimpy guards jumping you in the middle of a boss battle?treat your NPC friends nicely, and they'll take care of the little stuff for you.

The graphics will be more impressive than before, with improved environmental effects and more realistic character models (people's faces won't look quite so strange anymore). If the game can manage to last a bit longer than the original, then Capcom might have a very worthy sequel in its hands.
