Special-forces FPSes are all the rage among PC folk these days. IGI 2 will try riding the wave this June.
On the heels of Counter-Strike?s success, military-themed shooters are springing up all over, but IGI 2 is carving out its own role on the battlefield. Its stealth-heavy approach will emphasize brains over brawn: Playing as a lone commando, you?ll craftily take out guards, cameras, and the like without drawing attention (and overwhelming forces) to yourself. The early preview version sported sleekly updated graphics and intriguing new missions, but disappointingly, the game?s biggest advances?retooled A.I. and multiplayer action?weren?t implemented yet. If those key ingredients make the grade, IGI 2 should shape up into a worthy covert op.
