He might look a bit like a cybernetic Quaker Oat Man, but Mace Griffin is aiming to outdo Halo and become king of all Xbox first-person shooters.
One look at screenshots from Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter and it's obvious that Crave are trying to beat Halo at its own game. The game is set far off in the future, with three races and a slew of giant corporations fighting for a set of newly-discovered planets. Mace is an elite government ranger sent to stave off a war of potentially catastrophic proportions. Someone kills his entire team mid-flight, though, and Mace ends up getting sent to jail for a crime he didn't commit. After getting out, he decides to turn mercenary and find the real killers of his comrades, taking time out to kick hordes of alien butt along the way.Although the resemblance to Halo is positively uncanny, Mace Griffin will try to add a whole new level of depth to the first-person shooter genre. Our bounty-hunter hero will travel seamlessly through missions on ground, in the air, and through the blackness of space. Since the same engine is used for all of these modes, the game will be able to smoothly transition between walking around on land and piloting a personal fighter in space. Expect an arsenal of new weapons, smart characters that base their behavior on a huge amount of variable factors, modular vehicles with tons of optional equipment available, and more extra goodies. Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter will come out simultaneously on Xbox and PC by the end of fall.
