Dante's Inferno Preview: We're in Lust! (Xbox 360)

Dave and Travis explore the Dante's Inferno level we've all wanted to see since the beginning... lust!
Dave Rudden: I think the moment the Dante's Inferno game was announced, us gaming editors immediately thought "I gotta see the Lust level." It took awhile, but we finally got it, and it was every bit as disgustingly sexy as we expected. Topless lady demons, gaping vaginas on the walls (can I say that in a preview? walls?), and shining erect pillars for Andy. I've been told we only saw a portion of the depraved fun that is Lust. Which naked demon did you prefer?
Travis Moses: How could I pick just one as my favorite?! I'm going to pick the boss, Cleopatra. How enemies spawn from her nipples truly is "the most original enemy spawn" I've ever seen. And the developers just had to make her boobies even more eye catching by giving her nipples salivating tongues that discharge green ooze. Boobies were almost ruined for me today. I might not look at them the same for a while.
Dave Rudden: I, on the other hand, have been watching Bangbus while we've been doing this chat (TMI, sorry). I have to go with the more common topless enemy within the level, The Temptress. She's more of a, er... "perkier" girl, plus the first time you see her she does this little seductive dance before a gigantic, Dante-catching tentacle shoots from her body. I know you're supposed to repel her when she attaches to you and latches herself to your body, but if I were Dante, I'd consider giving into temptation. The one unattractive thing is that the game's executive producer (Jonathan Knight), told me that one of the developers created a video of the seductive dance for the animators to copy. I'm not sure whether I ever want to see that video. So we love the bewbs. What do you think of the combat against said breasteses?
Travis Moses: The whole game is God of War with a Dante's Inferno skin pulled over it. Seriously, everything is exactly the same. From light and heavy attacks to grabs to magic powers to modifier attacks to health and magic pickups to puzzle structures to quicktime events... whew, Dante's Inferno controls and plays exactly the same as God of War. Wouldn't you say the same?
Dave Rudden: er... I'm probably not the best guy to ask about GoW similarities. Haven't you heard Tae lambast me on Thirsty Thursdays about that? Though I am totally playing the God of War Collection when it comes out on PS3. Where this game is going to live or die is with the level design--you've got the most awesome level design doc ever, thanks to Dante Alighieri!, so EA needs to really bring out the descent into darkness in the final product to get my moneys. I know you had some issues with enemy count, and while this level is the most enemy-scarce I've seen yet (boob physics must demand more resources), but I would say the game still kept the action pretty consistent with the enemy being skillful and the boss fights requiring you to be on the move quite a bit.
Travis Moses: Agreed. The level design is Dante's key to success, and from what I've seen so far has been very impressive. (What can I say, I'm a sucker for boobies and vaginas.) One thing I'd like to see though, is a boss fight more like Shadow of the Colossus where the entire boss is a challenge and not just their upper body.
Dave Rudden: Yeah, it is kind of suspect that they've shown two major boss battles and both have consisted of Dante in some sort of enclosed area, fighting a gigantic enemy from the torso-up. I really doubt its a common theme in the book. One thing I did dig about Dante's design is the punishment/absolving morality system. You've basically got two main weapons--the scythe and cross--and punishing enemies boosts scythe power while absolving makes your cross' magic stronger. Of course, you could alternate and keep them even, but I'm a nice guy, so my cross shall gain much strength.
Travis Moses: Well, I'm a scythe guy. And sinners must be punished.
