Jazz and Faust

From Russia with love, Jazz and Faust is a Sierra-style adventure game with two different characters and pathways to choose from.

Moscow-based game developer 1C is making its debut in the American PC scene with Jazz and Faust, a standard adventure game with two main characters. At the beginning of the game you choose to play as either Jazz, a conniving smuggler, or Faust, a swarthy old barnacle of a sea captain. Each hero has his own storyline and mission, so youll need to play through the game as both of them to get the full experience.

The two shady characters will quest their way around a medieval-themed world, with 80 different scenes and over 50 characters to deal with. The backgrounds are 2D renderings, but the player and NPCs that populate them are done fully in polygons. Extra 3D effects like fire and fog will help make the world seem a little more alive. And a very dangerous world it is: Jazz and Faust will have to interact with beachside smugglers, make their way through seedy black markers and navigate an ocean-based trade route.

Jazz and Faust is due to come out in the U.S. this summer. Judging from what 1C has revealed so far, crusty old adventure addicts will definitely want to see what the Russians can bring to the genre.
