I woke up this morning after hitting snooze too many times, realized I was going to be late for work, and then decided, "to hell with it" and squeezed in some play time with Uncharted 2 for the first time. My impressions are as follows.

Uncharted 2 Closed Beta Multiplayer Impressions

Uncharted 2's matchmaking system is the best I've seen on the PlayStation 3. In less than one minute, I found and entered full matches in both the competitive and cooperative game types.

Competitive multiplayer is liquid smooth. With the smooth animation and tight character controls, Uncharted 2's online play feels like a more fluid version of Gears of War. Attaching to cover doesn't feel heavy or clunky, and the silky-smooth animations lend to a better overall competitive experience.

Each weapon feels unique and specialized. The FAL FN rifle feels like Halo 3's Battle Rifle with a three-round-burst firing mode and red-dot scope. The AK-47 is loud, deals heavy damage, but lacks accuracy at long distance. I didn't pick up the M4, but I'd guess it's more accurate than the AK-47 but deals less damage. My favorite weapon is the pistol, which I can only compare to Halo's magnum, because it's highly accurate through the small aiming reticule and nails head shots like a miniature sniper rifle. Lastly, the Gatling gun punishes loitering players with a blistering fire rate, but you're a lumbering target when carrying around this titanic weapon.

man uncharted 1 was badass already and now uncharted 2 with online multiplayer is gonna rule i cant wait till this game comes out.

the beta is really fun

except sometimes it takes me forever to get into a game

and if your in the beta, will you at one point get a chance to offer criticism of the game to naghty dog because i have not seen the opportunity yet and the game does have some, but few, issues

i cant wait for this game! I didn't like Gears, but since it's being said to be better than it, take that xbox fanboys. I loved Uncharted 1, but i always wished for co-op. I never did have cometitive on my mind, but as long as they pull it off, it's a welcome addition.

Yeah... right.
Gears of War blows this out of the water.
So does Halo.
This might be the only decent PS3 game in a while.
Microsoft is pwning Nintendo and Sony. Hard.
Now, go ahead and whine.

How is MS pwning Nintendo and Sony? Sony's software line-up is unbeatable and Nintendo is selling more than MS and Sony combined.

It's good, there's a few things that I would like to see, but the gameplay is solid. Choking people out, kicking faces in off of ledges, and pulling people off of platforms....it's very satisfying.
