Sid approves of the impressive graphics and controls for this portable fighter, and catches a glimpse of special guest fighter Kratos from God of War.
I could go on and on about this one, but it's best left short and sweet. I tried out an early version of Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny for the PSP at E3 2009 and came away impressed. Like Tekken 5 on the PSP, Broken Destiny looks terrific on the bright PSP screen: frankly, it looks quite comparable to Soul Calibur IV on the PS3 and Xbox 360. The character lineup wasn't fully implemented, but the big news here is a playable Kratos from God of War. Kratos wasn't enabled in the version I played, but I caught glimpses of a video that showed him performing his signature combos with his chain-swords. He fit right into the game's kooky cast of weapon experts, and his Blades of Chaos look like a lot of fun to use in a one-on-one setting. Nice job on that decision, guys.
Otherwise, it's Soul Calibur IV. It plays great, it seems to run at 60 frames per second, and the graphics sizzle. The scope of the character customization remains a question, and I'm not sure if the RPG-style Tower of Souls is included for the PSP. You'll be able to play wirelessly via the Ad-hoc Wifi, too. In the case of this PSP port, no news is good news: Broken Destiny looks like a winner.

I sure am glad I own a PSP. I feel for the people who got rid of theirs because they thought it was a waste of money. SC on PSP looks like it should've been on there all along.

Agree entirely. With these graphics, running at 60 frames per second, and slick controls, this game is a PSP natural. I STILL play Tekken 5 on the PSP all the time, and this looks like it will be joining those ranks. Can't wait to see the new PSP Tekken, either...

I kind of think it looks ugly to be quite honest. I guess they set the bar high though with 4. And I realize this is the PSP. Kratos is an interesting addition. And I'm sure this will be a sweet PSP game.
