  • On June 23rd Wii fans will be able to get their hands on The Conduit, the highly-anticipated first-person shooter from High Voltage Software and Sega. I took a quick trip over to Sega headquarters to get some time with the online component of the game, and within minutes I was pulling off headshots and blowing my opponents away in a variety of online modes.

    A Match Made In Heaven
Jumping into The Conduit's multiplayer modes is a fairly simple process. Players can choose from three types of matchmaking from the start: "Friends," for which you'll need your buddies' friend codes, "Regional" allows for U.S. players to connect with others in North and South American territories, and "Worldwide" which will allow you to connect with anyone. With all the journalists there for the multiplayer demo in one room, we connected via friend codes and off we went into the lobby.

From the lobby screen, players can cast votes on the match's weapon set, map and multiplayer mode. Our first match was in a mode called Team Objective, which is the Conduit's version of capture the flag. Each team has an ASE, or All-Seeing Eye orb (featured more prominently in the single player game) which acts as the flag. When a team member captures the orb, the best strategy I found was to utilize 3-4 other players to shadow him to make sure he got back to our team's base safely. In our 6 on 6 match the game ran surprisingly smooth for a Wii shooter, and I noticed little to no lag.

So far so good. I just hope this game has good sells if it lives up to the hype.

I've been saying it since day one. This game looks amazing. I can't help but think of Perfect Dark when I see this game in action or being talked about.

This might have sold the game for me, but after playing super smash bros brawl online on the wii and seeing how laggy it is with just 4 players, i dont think this will be much better.
