What happens when five companies come together to create one game? A hybrid RPG known as Cross Edge.
With the firepower of NIS, Gust, Idea Factory, Namco Bandai Games, and Capcom this melting pot of creativity has to be a surefire hit, right? Well, that's all in the eye of the beholder. Each company put forth their franchises' most iconic characters to create an RPG souffl?, from Darkstalker's super sensual succubus Morrigan, sleek and sexy catgirl Felicia, and bad-ass vampire Demitri. The Disgaea clan is also in full swing, featuring Etna, Laharl, and the infamous Prinnies - not to mention the rest of the Ar Tonelico gang on behalf of Bandai, Marione, and Meu. If you're a hardcore RPG fan this may very well be your wildest fan-fiction fantasy come true.
When Worlds Collide
Cross Edge's environments are set on 3D playing fields with hand-drawn 2D sprite-based, cibi-styled characters - similar to other NIS titles (most notably, Disgaea). The game's protagonists, York and Miko -- known overseas as Yuuto and Mikoto - awake to find themselves in an unfamiliar world with no memory of how they got there. Instead of taking this opportunity to explore their surroundings, they leap at each other's throats, only to find their fight broken up by an equally confused (but still relatively risqu?) Morrigan. After an intense battle between a pack of Hell Dogs, the trio decides to explore this strange plain, and get to the bottom of their mystical surroundings. You'll soon find that soul searching is the name of the Cross Edge game and you'll be doing a lot of it. The plot unravels as you seek out other heroes to wage war on the evil X-Edge and liberate captured souls.
