Swash those buckles! Batten down the mizzenpoop! Arrr! Westwood?s latest will have you talking in pirate-speak for days on end.
It won?t be too long before Westwood?s latest for the PlayStation 2 is available in stores, and if the current version of The Legend of Black Kat is any indication, people should be paying more attention. You will control Katarina de Leon, a newbie to the high seas with a miniscule crew and plonky little boat. Her aim in life is to avenge her mother and defeat the infamous pirate captain that now controls most of the waters of the world.Despite the haughty-sounding plot, Pirates is, in its heart of hearts, a Tomb Raider clone with some interesting twists. Instead of hopping about and pushing rocks around, Katarina will be navigating the ocean in her ship and swordfighting with a bizarre range of enemies on land. The missions you?ll have range from destroying a fleet of patrol ships to dealing with mermaids and mythical creatures. The game is very open-ended, allowing you to pursue quests in any order you like, and the battle system has been made to be fast-paced and simple to deal with. If all this sounds ?arr-some? to you (sorry, bad pun), take a look at The Legend of Black Kat when it comes out this month.
