You're the Boss
After you've chosen between the first two picks - medic or arsonist - it's time to take over your first racket. A racket is a place of business owned by a crime lord who coerces protection in exchange for a little cash under the table. Being as how you're new to the New York crime ring, you're taking back businesses from another crime lord named Carmine. The first racket Michael Corleone wants you to take bake is a simple deli.
This is extortion. You're going to walk into the deli, kill all the guards, and then pressure the manager into paying you instead of Carmine from now on. Now here's the fun part. The owner is not going to fight back, so you can do whatever you want to them -- smack them around a little or choke them until their mind is changed. However, each manager has a weakness, and if you exploit that weakness you will get an additional money bonus. For example, maybe the deli manager is scared of being choked. Then choke them to the breaking point for addition cash, but don't kill them. There are other weaknesses such as property damage, fear of heights, and getting slapped.
Congratulations, the deli is in your racket group. Now appoint any numbers of guards you wish to protect the place, but remember that guards cost money. It's also important to remember that everything you just did, Carmine and other computer controlled A.I. mob bosses can do the same. In fact, they will try and take back rackets from you, and you have to decide whether to let the guards handle it, send a more powerful family member, or go over there yourself and whoop some ass.
Crime Ring Leader
What was just covered makes up one part of a larger "crime ring." A crime ring is made up of multiple rackets, or businesses, and grants the owner special bonuses to his or her entire family. For instance, the first crime ring in the game consists of two rackets. When you extort the managers of both rackets, you're entire family is buffed with brass knuckles. You must own all rackets in a crime ring to be rewarded with the bonus. Other bonuses include armored vehicles and bulletproof vests.
Beware that an enemy mob boss, such as Carmine, can bomb just one of you rackets within a crime ring and the bonus is lost until you get it back. Bombing is a good strategy that you can use, too, to take over rackets and crime rings.
One final note on Carmine (and other mob bosses): take out his family soldiers and Capos before the final showdown at his mansion; otherwise they will be their waiting for you, making the fight longer and more difficult. To take out family members of opposing crime lords, do favors for people on the streets. They may know something you don't, such as the locations of certain family members and how to make them disappear forever instead of a short trip to the hospital.

First one was great! This one looks a lot deeper, which makes it a little bit less of a GTA rip off. Hope it turns out at least as good as the first one.

This looks awesome, and I like the godfather better-ish than gta. I could spend hours working over rackets to claim them.

Ive just finished NY and FL and my biggest complaint is that when going on these side quests to find out hints on how to kill made men, the game simply reuses business you have already visited and conquered. I wish the side quests would take you to new buildings and people. That is my biggest complaint about the game. No way is it a perfect 5 because of this flaw and the fact that computer AI is so dumb that when you bomb other Family compounds that your made men are stupid enough to stay inside and get blown up, even when you try to call them back out they still stay inside.
The game is fun and addicting and I would recommend it to any Godfather enthusiasts or GTA players.
