Mad Moves
I got to see a bunch of awesome action sequences in the latest build of MadWorld. The best sequence started with Jack riding a motorcycle down the side of a building. While I only saw Jack riding his hog, uninterrupted, I have been told that motorcycle riding will be an even bigger part of the final product, with enemies to combat in Mad Max fashion. Once his ride concluded, Jack arrived at the subway station, wherein he made mincemeat of a cavalcade of cronies. Jack earns points by killing these nobodies, and can use the points to unlock minigames--like human darts-- and eventually, boss battles. I had previously seen Little Eddie, a giant ogre, who can toss Jack around like a ragdoll but is susceptible to chainsaws to the shin. This time around, Jack faced off with a smaller, yet more sinister baddie named Herr Frederick Von Twirlenkiller, whose primary weapon will definitely throw you for a loop--literally.
Twirlenkiller's hands have been replaced with what look like jet engines. The fight between Twirly and Jack began with the black and white brawler down the street, with the boss tossing torrents of tornados in Jack's path. After carefully dodging the waves of whirlwinds, Jack was finally able to engage in combat with Twirlenkiller. While we got to see Jack unleash some pretty brutal moves, the coolest part came when Twirlenkiller grabbed Jack and took to the skies. In order for Jack to escape his nemesis' grip, the player has to match a series of inputs. The demo ended soon after the battle, but my anticipation continues to grow. With Nintendo seemingly taking a breather for 2009, this may be the year that third-parties finally shine. I'm betting MadWorld will ably fill the void left by Mario, Zelda, and Samus.

The game looks cool. I hope it uses it's stylish look and becomes more than just a beat-em-up. I just wanna know why a game review talks more about another game company's faults than the game itself.

I think this is going to be a good game
but why couldn't they just make it in full
color instead of black and white?
