Take to the high seas in this downloadable real-time strategy game.
Age of Booty, formerly titled Plunder, is an upcoming downloadable game from the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and PC. In Age of Booty, players control a pirate ship that moves along hexagonal squares and the objective is to capture a certain number of ports. What's great about Age of Booty is that it's super easy to pick up and play and full of content, making it an excellent downloadable game for a cheap price.
I recently got to play the game and its addicting multiplayer. The mode I played required my teammate and I (2 vs. 2) to capture three ports before the other team. I started at a home port that heals and allows for upgrades in speed, armor, and cannons. To upgrade, there are resources that must be acquired on the battlefield, such as rum and lumber. Resources can be acquired from capturing neutral ports, sinking non-playable merchant ships, and even sinking thy enemy. And that reminds me, picking up crates floating dead in the water usually awards resources, but from time to time I got a special item that allowed me to summon a whirlpool and is best used to sink your opponent. Four players can enjoy the pleasure of pirating in splitscreen or online.
Age of Booty comes with a full-featured map editor that allows you to create your own swashbuckling levels and they are virally shared when you are online. That means if you play someone else's user-created map, you can download it to your library if you so please. Age of Booty will be the first downloadable game to offer online multiplayer in the trial version, so you can play before you pay. There will be, however, a 48 hour time limit for the online multiplayer. With plenty of multiplayer maps, 20 single-player challenges, a level creator, and future downloadable content, Age of Booty is an awesome title for all ages and especially pirate fans. Yarrr!

I wish games in general were a bit more vibrant, just like this one. Developers have gotten away from having vibrant colors and a positive rendition of games. In general, I miss the SNES days.

I think this game will be well worth the money. I like all the downloadable games because they are original and fun.
