From Softwares well-known robot battler series comes back for more. Customization freaks, prepare for Nirvana.
The Armored Core series has attracted a loyal core (pun intended) fanbase through the years with its mission-based robot action and extreme customization features. Armored Core 3 will continue the gradual evolution the series has undergone, with more stuff to shoot, more parts to buy and more modes to enjoy. Its obvious from the early available information that From Softwares focus is pinned squarely on the customization mode. Over 200 brand-new parts will be available to buy and attach to your fighter, and the Garage and Assembly menus have been completely overhauled to make switching parts and examining parameters simpler. Not that From is slumming with the rest of the gameyoull have 50 new missions to carry out, either alone or with a computer-controlled wingman by your side. Arena mode is also back, pitting you against the most treacherous AC pilots the PS2 can throw at you.
If you liked the two-player versus modes in AC2, then start looking for some more friends, because AC3 will allow you to hold two-on-two team matches or four-player free-for-all battles. Rich gamers with the panache to attach five PS2s together will get to enjoy the ultimate multiplayer experienceeach player will have his own monitor and the fifth TV will cover the mayhem like a sporting event, complete with multiple camera perspectives. Of course, if you have that kind of money, you should probably just take the next step and build a real Armored Core robot of your own.
In development for the PlayStation 2, Armored Core 3 will be out this summer. Note that From has revamped the entire game system, so you wont be able to use saved games from AC2 or AC2: Another Age with this title.
