Dirt racing is hitting the Xbox courtesy of Microsoft, complete with snow, steep hills, andyes, dirt.
Microsoft is hoping to broaden the U.S. audience for rally racing with its newest title. Developed by Digital Illusions, RalliSport Challenge will feature more than 25 rally cars, including household names like Mitsubishi, Lancia, and Audi, as well as the banned Group B cars of the 1980s. After you choose your wheels, youll start off in an intensive career mode that spans all four types of racing, like hill climb, time trial, rally cross, and the ever-treacherous ice racing. RalliSport will support up to four players at the same time, but sadly, the game will not include online play. In the preview version, the cars accumulated progressive levels of debris, and took heavy damage to the windows and body. Realistic particle effects, animated crowds, and cumbersome animals looking for a dirt nap also looked impressive. The controls are coming along very nicely, although they felt like a derivative of Colin McCraes games in the early build. RalliSport Challenge is currently on track for a spring debut.
