King's Field: The Ancient City

The King?s Field franchise lives on, no matter how many +2 arrows get stuck in its leathery hide.

At first glance, the new King?s Field game for PS2 looks like a great improvement over its PSX precursors. Lighting effects are more realistic; texture contours are more fully articulated; basically, the improved performance you?d expect from the PS2?and given the number of iterations this series has already manifested, you can only assume that the best is yet to come. But don?t expect too much more to change for this latest King?s Field incarnation. The King?s Field franchise has a loyal base of fans who?ve come to expect?and crave?the abstract, minimalist approach Agetec takes to action/RPGs. Making RPGs for consoles is a tough gig?we?ll know for sure come March whether Agetec pulls it off.
