Home Run KING

Sega takes a shot at developing a baseball game for the GameCube.

First shown at last fall's Tokyo Game Show under the name Major League Baseball 3, Home Run KING will be Sega's first foray into baseball on the GameCube. The change of pace from the Dreamcast's World Series Baseball series is immediately obvious. The emphasis here will be on arcade gameplay that anyone can get into, and the simple hitting system and auto-fielding feature will help keep the game going at a fast clip.

If you want to dive a little deeper, Home Run KING will also let you create your own teams and players. Everything right down to the players' faces and hairstyles are completely customizable, so you can make a team of today's all-stars or fill it with clones of yourself if your ego is that enormous. Once you've got a team, you'll be able to play them in all the usual Exhibition and Season modes, as well as a Home Run Derby that lets you see how many pitches you can belt into the bleachers. Mark your calendars for March 25 if you want a piece of the action.
