Deadly Creatures

As human beings, we're not accustomed to worrying about whether we'll be consumed on any given trip to stuff our faces at a restaurant, but what's life like further down the food chain, where you're as likely to eat as be eaten?

Fear and Desire

True to its name, Deadly Creatures is a surreal action adventure designed to thrill with the twisted Wii exclusive's tales of two most unlikely protagonists: a desert tarantula, and a giant scorpion. Though each follows a different narrative path through a dark and brutal world of ever-present danger, their paths will sometimes cross, giving players different perspectives on the same key events. What these creepy crawlies are really after beyond a full stomach and a safe place to sleep is anyone's guess right now, but you can bet it isn't cute and cuddly.

A challenger approaches! A scorpion's work is never done.

As you make your way through an enormous and hazardous desert world of evocative lighting and detailed environments, you'll explore hidden nooks and crannies, negotiate platforms, climb walls, and even hang upside down. Whether you're making your way through a clay-floored cave littered with bones, or trying to find your way out of a forgotten coffin, you'll need to keep a sharp eye out for critters to eat, natural obstacles to avoid, and lethal traps that can leave you a nasty smush of ichor.

Survival of the Fittest

Of course, you're not the only living and breathing bad-ass wandering the abandoned waystations and dismal caverns that stand in your path. As you survive scraps with angry wasps and flea-bitten rats, and dispatch rival spiders and scorpions, you'll make your way up the food chain from minor critters to hungry lizards and desperate snakes that seem a mile long from your humble vantage. Combat will be tied to the movements of the Wiimote, whether you're tossing around or slamming a finishing move through an unfortunate meal, stinging and clubbing some scaley jerk in a struggle for mere survival, or coming up against that most arrogant of Earth's animals: man.

Gila monsters might be a protected species, but our scorpion buddy doesn't seem to be in the market for a pet.

You have to wonder just how much of an emotional connection gamers can form with such an amoral pair of rough and tumble on-screen protagonists, but it isn't hard to imagine Deadly Creatures playing like a disturbing serialized version of your favorite nature channel nightmare, and there's just no denying the chilling possibilities lurking in those shadows
