Phalanx

Hope your body still remembers how to use its rusty twitch reflex?cuz Kemco?s bringing back an old-school 2D SNES shooter that?ll put your twitch to the test.

The days of old-school 2D shooters may be long gone?but, as Game Boy Advance owners already know, everything old-school is new again when you?re playing it on a tiny little handheld screen in improper lighting conditions. Kemco?s Phalanx was one of the SNES? earliest?and most difficult?shooter titles, notorious for its?uh??unconventional? box art featuring an old guy holding a banjo. You know how these things work: Avoid tons of enemies, collect power-ups that boost up your fancy lasers, and do your damnedest not to die when the big boss spews a spread of tiny bullets across the screen. While the banjo guy has been sadly booted off the box, the preview version of the game seemed otherwise faithful to the original, though the difficulty level seemed tweaked down, apparently to make sure those who thrive on past glories weren?t crushed by how pathetic and non-hardcore they?d truly become.
