New info and screens of the GameCube?s time-bending psychological horror title.
Weaving together multiple storylines that span over 2000 years and mixing them with its own type of idiosyncratic horror, Eternal Darkness will be a psychological thriller with a surreal twist. The visuals are already breathtaking, and the exquisitely designed 3D levels are all done in real-time with gorgeous bump-mapping, lighting, and fog effects. Each of the 12 playable characters will be programmed to have emotionally charged reactions to their environments, and their fully articulated faces will visibly display fear or curiosity when facing gruesome enemies or discerning strange objects. Eternal Darkness? unique feature will be your character?s sanity meter, which will decrease as you fight enemies, experience trauma, or use magic. When the meter falls beyond a certain level, characters will begin to lose their grip on reality by mumbling to themselves and suffering hallucinations. The phantasmagoria will range from bleeding walls to decapitated heads that recite Shakespeare, and eventually, players will question the veracity of almost every enemy, event, or object in the game. Sounds killer!
