The game that started this whole "cel-shading" fad warps a few decades into the Xbox's future.
Jet Grind Radio is one of those Dreamcast titles a la Space Channel 5 and Seaman that some folks, in these post-DC days, blame for the system's untimely demise. Innovative, fresh, freaky, and way too niche to find a significant enough audience to succeed. Luckily, the game that made cel-shading your polygons cool is getting a second chance on the Xbox. Jet Set Radio Future is basically a hyper-enhanced version of the ol' Dreamcast darling that takes place in The Future?, with bigger maps and an astonishing sense of scale, smoother animation, a heightened sense of speed, and even freakier character designs inspired by the fall fashions of Ulala and the Space Channel Five dancers. The game is currently on route for an Early 2002 release (think February). Slip softly into the here-now noizebop freak routine, Sally.
