The head-turning show piece for the Nintendo 64 powers up to display even greater levels of fancy water effects.
As sure as Nintendo will make sure to release a Mario title to launch a system, they?ve also made sure to include another game that proves not only the graphical advancement of their new system, but also the enhanced gameplay that the technology provides. The SNES had PilotWings, a showcase of the amazing spectacle of ?Mode 7? technology. And although PilotWings was indeed updated for the Nintendo 64, the game that really opened peoples? eyes to what that console could achieve was a game called Wave Race. Wave Race: Blue Storm for the Gamecube throws Nintendo?s hat into the ever-competitive arena of ?games with awesome water effects?. Due to its pedigree, it?s also a given that the gameplay will match the high watermark of its visual presentation. One of the standout features in the original was the physics of the water and how that affected your race. The additional horsepower of the Gamecube will push those physics even further and include greater changes in weather and water levels. In a standard single player game, you?ll face off against seven other riders who are all out to beat you to the finish. Right now Wave Race: Blue Storm is scheduled for a November release, although it?s not known yet if it is a launch title or not.
