Five awesome minutes of Super Mario Galaxy gameplay.
Last week Nintendo held a little media summit where a whole bunch of Wii games were open to play. We showed you some Super Smash Bros. Brawl, so back we are with Super Mario Galaxy.
Galaxy has come a long way since it was shown at E3 2006 and again at the Game Developer's Conference earlier this year. Most of the extremely wacky and confusing stuff has been changed and/or simplified to what I would call near perfection. Nintendo's use of bright colors in the game is dazzling, and it takes only takes about 20 minutes of time with the control system to get comfortable.
When it was shown last year, Galaxy's controls were more confusing than intuitive, leaving gamers wondering if Nintendo had taken the platforming genre a little too far. But now it seems like there's a good balance of original and tried-and-true controls. It should be a massive hit for the holiday season, and will probably contribute to another shortage of Wiis come Turkey season. Enjoy the video.
