Commander Keen

Back in the early ?90s, before the bad boys of Texas invented the first-person shooter genre, the gang at id Software made a name for themselves with a young boy?s outer space platform adventures. Commander Keen?s PC episodes were shareware, but they were good enough to rival the console hits of the day.

Commander Keen?id's pre-Doom, prepubescent space hero?is living up to his name so far in his handheld debut. The beta of his comeback featured huge sprites, plenty of colorful cartoon aliens to blast, admirable music, and lots of tightly controlled hop-n-bop action. Armed with a pop gun, a pogo stick, and a sense of humor, Keen?s gameplay is definitely a throwback to the platformers of old, but it?s so well executed that fans of the genre will probably find it comfortable and refreshing.
