Conan

Conan comes to conquer next-gen consoles.

Bare breasts and lots of blood: these are the two things fans of the loin-clothed barbarian crave in a Conan video game, and after getting some hands-on time with THQ's Conan, we can assure you that it has plenty of both.

Make Them Drown in Lakes of Blood
In Conan, players take the role of the strapping Cimmerian barbarian himself as they slaughter their way through a wide variety of fearsome adversaries, such as battle-hardened warriors, dragons, and even a giant squid. On top of being faced with numerous enemies from the Conan universe, players will also have to solve a number of simple puzzles in between destroying horde after horde of enemies with your sword.

A complex fighting system is used in the game that is more akin to that of vs. fighting games than your average hack 'n slash game. Due to the game's advanced AI, you'll have to learn your enemies inside and out because they'll start to anticipate your attack patterns if you use the same tactics over and over again. Although Conan may appear to be a God of War clone on the surface, it has a number of unique qualities that set it aside from GoW, such as its rich fighting system and the high level of strategy that is required to progress in the game. You won't get through Conan simply by mashing buttons.

Conan, Minus Arnold
In addition to the meatier combat the game, Conan is rife with gore and this is immediately apparent as the ground becomes wet with the blood of your enemies. Arms, legs, heads, and enemies' torsos can be hacked right off their bodies as you wield dual swords, a two-handed broadsword, or a one-handed sword to carry out your onslaught.

The game's profuse action and killing is not the only thing Conan has to offer gamers, its story is also penned by none other than Susan 'O Connor, the same person who wrote the story for both BioShock and Gears of War. So Conan fans can rest assured because their beloved franchise is in the right hands.

Conan is shaping up to be a solid action title, and GamePro will keep you updated with new info on this epic action game as it surfaces.
